Allotted 53 staff, currently the
department has 48 employees.
The city is hoping to add 17
positions, totaling a full staff of
70. Per FBI standards there
should be 2.4 officers per 1,000
population. Paragould's
population would need 72
officers to meet those standards.
Currently 911 is staffed with
18 team members. With the
passing of the proposed sales
tax, 911 would be able to hire 2
new full-time employees to
better help serve our
community.
The Fire Department is
currently staffed with 37 full
time employees; spread across
4 stations and 3 shifts. The
intention is to add 12
employees to help the
department continue its
mission of providing the
highest level of care to the
citizens of Paragould.
This proposal seeks to establish a sustainable and dedicated funding stream to support our first responders, recognizing the critical role they play in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Our first responders play a critical role in safeguarding our community.
However, the demands on their services continue to grow, necessitating a more stable and predictable source of funding. This proposed tax seeks to address this issue by creating a dedicated fund to support the needs of our first responders.
Our current sales tax system has served us well, but with changing economic dynamics and consumer behavior, there is a need to revisit and modernize the system.
THIS 3/4 OF A CENT TAX WILL ALWAYS GO TO SUPPORT OUR FIRST RESPONDERS.
PLEASE, VOTE YES FOR A SAFER PARAGOULD ON MARCH 5, 2024. EARLY VOTE BEGINS FEBRUARY 20TH.
